Fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged in concrete, the La Gardine Rasteau 2021 is made from a blend of 75% Grenache and 25% Syrah. Perfect to drink now but will keep for 5-7 years.
The winemaking tradition of the Brunel family goes back to the 17th century. Gaston Brunel, a famous négociant, acquired the Château de la Gardine in Châteauneuf du Pape in 1945. The estate is now run by his two sons, Maxime and Patrick with the help of their wives Maryse and Eve and some of their children and grandchildren, Marie-Odile, Philippe, Guillaume and Thibaut. The estate spreads over 52-hectares of vineyards (48 red and 4 white) and 20-hectares of forest, all gathered around the property. La Gardine is famous for its quality wine production and the uniquely shaped ‘Gardine’ bottles which are based on one Gaston found in his vineyard from the centuries before. Today around 70% of the production is exported to about 30 countries.
Food Pairing: Pair with duck confit, quince and chestnut pie, or roasted quail with balsamic reduction.
