Description

First created in 1995, the Seña 2020 is aged for 22 months in 90% new French oak. It is a beautiful deep garnet colour in the glass with a complex nose of fresh red cherries and raspberries, violets, dill, rosemary and sweet spices from the time in oak. The palate is fresh and juicy with smooth balsamic tones, fine-grained tannins and a balanced and profound finish. A very elegant wine.

From one of Chile’s finest wine regions, Seña was created in 1995 by Eduardo Chadwick and Robert Mondavi in the heart of the Aconcagua Valley. The pair dreamed of creating a Chilean wine to rival the wines of the First Growth estates in Bordeaux and set about modelling their wines in that style, but with a South American twist – the addition of Carmenere. The 42-hectares of vineyard area are farmed biodynamically and are planted on volcanic and colluvial soils. The climate here is Mediterranean, with bright sunny days that are cooled by sea breezes coming off the Pacific Ocean – the perfect conditions for producing red wines of great elegance and finesse.

Food matches: Great with braised short ribs or rare rib-eye steak served with chimichurri.
