Description
Verdejo from vineyards in La Seca, Valladolid are harvested at night to retain ultimate freshness. Straw yellow with green tints reflect its youth, primary aromas of tropical pineapple and citrus give way to apple and fennel. Crisp fruity acidity typical of the variety is perfectly balanced complemented by texture, body, and structure given by fine lees aging.
Bodegas Protos, meaning ‘first’ in Greek, has a rich history of almost 100 years, their ethos is to listen to and respect the terror treating each parcel individually as they strive to be first in their class. The vineyards span an enormous 1,400 hectares throughout the Ribera del Duero, Rueda and Cigales DO’s, with some of the vines aged between 50 and 100 years old. The soils are a mixture of loam-clay-sand, as well as some limestone and silt sitting between 750 – 800 meters above sea level. The climate is continental with Mediterranean influence.
Pairs well with tuna, sushi, seafood rice, paella and pasta.
