Description
The perfect rosé transports the palate, with delicate fresh fruits and subtle structures, to a place of lingering memories. Poppies Rosé is made from Pinot Noir grapes following the traditions bequeathed by Provence in France, preferring a more delicate variety and allowing the red fruits to predominate over the more dense rich fruits. The wine is polished and precise with an underlying structure of crisp minerality, slightly rounded off with talcum-powder-like creamy notes, and of course succulently sweet strawberries. If there is one key aspect to rosé, it is the balance of acid to fruit, as it should have that refreshing ‘Summer! Oh my goodness!’ vibe, in one breath and another should brighten the gloomiest of winter’s days.
It is the intention of Poppies Martinborough to make beautifully hand-crafted wines that simply show the character and evoke the varietal flavours and purity of expression from the land and the hands of the makers. Poppies draws on traditional winemaking techniques, with a deep respect for the past, ensuring the hand-crafted wine is never fashionable but always adored. When young, their wines are fresh, vibrant and pure, however with time the true essence unfolds to give more subtle, sophisticated and intriguing characters; be patient and you shall be rewarded.
