Description
The Solosole 2023 is a 100% Vermentino (made using a selection of clones from Corsica) and is a golden yellow colour with greenish hues. Aromas of peach and apricot are immediately apparent, followed by sulphurous and flint-like notes. This is a medium bodied white with generous fruit character and a long zesty finish.
One of the most exciting estates to have emerged from Italy in recent years, Poggio al Tesoro is a 70-hectare property in Bolgheri on the Tuscan coast, acquired in 2001 by the Allegrini family (of Valpolicella fame). The first vineyard they bought was right next door to Ornellaia and was previously rented by the Super Tuscan powerhouse. The vineyards are spread over four different areas, all with unique types of soil, sun exposure and grape varieties. They produce a range of wines – including white, rose, red and a sweet wine – all with wonderful structure, elegance and originality.
