Description
A lively and youthful style, the Pieropan Soave Classico 2022 is made from 85% Garganega and 15% Trebbiano di Soave. It is a brilliant pale lemon colour in the glass, the nose is delicate with aromas of almond blossom and marzipan. On the palate, there is a zesty acidity with good fruit concentration and a long finish.
Often associated with mass-produced, unexciting and simple wines, the region of Soave in Italy’s Veneto region is often overlooked as a place for high quality wines – but the Pieropan family have continually strived for higher standards in both the vineyard and the winery since the company was established in 1890 and are amongst the most famous producers in the region today. With a number of vineyards in Soave crus, the wines of Pieropan are elegant and complex. The Garganega and Trebbiano vines are planted on a range of soils, from limestone and clay to volcanic, whilst low-yield farming ensures high quality grapes and high-quality wines.
Food matches: This wine is an excellent aperitif but also pairs well with fish dishes, canapes, and vegetables like asparagus, peas and courgette.
