Description
Garnacha and Viura grapes are macerated on their skins for 5 hours imparting a beautiful blush pink colour then fermented in tank to preserve the maximum freshness, complexity and aromatic intensity before aging on lees. A complex nose opens with fresh peach, apricot, strawberry and white blossom. The palate is well balanced and voluptuous with stone fruits, red currant, pomello and a hint of herbs, a long finish refreshes the palate with zesty grapefruit acidity.
Muga’s Rosado grapes come from the principally calcareous clay of the Valle del Oja zone and ferrous clay in the Upper Najerilla valley zone. Bodegas Muga is a family-run firm founded in 1932 by Isaac Muga and Aurora Caño. The first wines were made in an underground cellar, until in 1968 they decided to set up their own winery in a beautiful old 19th-century town-house situated in the emblematic train station area in the town of Haro. Its outstanding feature is that it always uses the finest materials, combining tradition with the latest advances in winemaking so as always to give its wines the very best quality without losing authenticity. Indeed, with its own on-site cooperage with one Master Cooper and three assistant coopers, it is the only winery in Spain making all its vats and barrels. The winery remains true to traditional winemaking methods such as racking the casks by gravity and fining the wine with fresh egg whites.
