Description
The 2023 vintage of Muga Blanco has a pale, straw-yellow colour. The nose is complex with aniseed and citrus notes, such as lemon and lemon cake, a touch of white blossom and even some vanilla nuances. On the palate the crisp acidity is well balanced by the volume. This is a complex wine in which the citrus and floral notes reappear, together with stone fruit, on the very long finish.
Muga always use the finest materials and are open to new techniques that provide greater quality without losing authenticity. To produce each of their wines, they opt for traditional procedures like natural fining. The only cellar in Spain with a master cooper and three in-house barrel-makers, Bodegas Muga owns 620 acres of vineyards but it also has control over 370 acres owned by vine growers in the area. The vineyards are located on the foot of the Montes Obarenses, within the area called Rioja Alta. The site climate is exceptional due to, on the one hand, the singular geography and orientation of the vines and on the other hand, the surrounding climates – Mediterranean, Atlantic and Continental climates are combined harmoniously thus creating a perfect climate for grape growing.
Food Pairing: A perfect match for grilled fish, shellfish and rice dishes. Ideal for enjoying by the glass, as an aperitif or together with a snack on a sunny terrace.
