Muga Blanco has a lovely straw-yellow colour. It is intense and complex on the nose with floral aromas (white blossom, jasmine), stone (peaches) and citrus (grapefruit, lemon) fruit, pears, apples and banana. Very fine and elegant. On the palate the attack is very smooth and balanced. You can sense the freshness and minerality in the mouth, with very well-integrated acidity, giving the wine length and a very long finish with reminders of vanilla and citrus fruit.
Muga always use the finest materials and are open to new techniques that provide greater quality without losing authenticity. To produce each of their wines, they opt for traditional procedures like natural fining. The only cellar in Spain with a master cooper and three in-house barrel-makers, Bodegas Muga owns 620 acres of vineyards but it also has control over 370 acres owned by vine growers in the area. The vineyards are located on the foot of the Montes Obarenses, within the area called Rioja Alta. The site climate is exceptional due to, on the one hand, the singular geography and orientation of the vines and on the other hand, the surrounding climates – Mediterranean, Atlantic and Continental climates are combined harmoniously thus creating a perfect climate for grape growing.
