Masi – Mazzano Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico 2012 is an austere and majestic cru, the prototype of Amarone, it draws its unique and instantly identifiable style from the eponymous vineyard, with its ideal vineyard orientation and all-important altitude. Limestone feeds the vines and gives them great personality, the aromas of the grapes are then concentrated during the natural drying process in the drying lofts during the cold winter months. The noble austerity found in this wine is mitigated by soft tannins and velvety elegance.
Opaque ruby red with burnished reflections. Powerful aromas of cherries preserved in spirit and plums on the nose. Majestic, with tastes of Marasca cherries and blueberries. Complex aftertaste with surprising lengths.
Deep roots and links to the ancient civilization of the Venetian regions mould the extraordinary heritage that Masi expresses in its iconic wines, authoritative ambassadors of Italian excellence in the world. The spirit of Venice can also be found in its hinterland, where it has been the inspiration of farmers, as well as merchants and great travellers. Masi, which has always been committed to safeguarding its heritage of grapes and indigenous winemaking techniques, has a particular expertise in the Appassimento (grape drying) method traditionally used in the Venetian regions to concentrate aromas and flavours in wine. The result is majestic and unique wines, such as Amarone, of which Masi produces the widest and most authentic range on the international market.
