The world-famous red is an intriguing blend of Cabernet Sauvignon along with a mix of indigenous and more unusual varieties from the south of France, such as Grenache, Cinsualt and Tempranillo. Lauded across the wine world, not for nothing is this Domaine named the ‘Lafite of the Languedoc’.
The Guibert family bought Mas de Daumas Gassac in the 1970s and have turned it into one of the most famous vineyards in the Languedoc. Dark red in colour, it has complex notes of tart red fruit and black plum with a touch of leather.This wine is mouthfilling with powerful tannins, excellent acidity and a ripe fruit finish. It has excellent acidity.
To be drunk in its youth to enjoy its superb fruit aromas, or to be opened from the 5th to 20th year to appreciate its amazing ageing potential. Needs to be decanted a long time in advance (at least 3-4 hours before serving).
Food matches: Perfect with complex dishes, red meat, game (particularly venison and wild boar) and cheeses.
