Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial Tinto was awarded ‘best wine in the world’ in 2021.

The result of many years of experience, a renowned historic label. An icon of the Rioja Grandes Reservas of total quality and excellence. Exclusively produced with the best years of our best single vineyard, matured for two and a half years in American oak barrels and three years in bottle that give this wine a new depth, complexity and vivacity. Living legend of Rioja which has survived three centuries, destined to break records for its surprising vivacity of intense cherry colour which gives an amazing complexity. Its nose displays an aromatic intensity which entices us with its red fruits, floral notes of truffles, incense, vanilla and spiced notes. The palate is silky smooth with polished tannins and excellent acidity to balance the luscious fruit. A Gran Reserva representing strength, elegant bouquet, fruity intensity and impeccable balance.

Established in 1852, Murrieta is one of the oldest and most respected bodegas in Rioja Alta. Their wines are concentrated and long-lived and some, like "Castillo Ygay", have become legendary amongst wine-lovers. Marqués de Murrieta has not stood back and stagnated however; their 300 hectare estate produces Dalmau – a blend which represents an avant-garde expression of their terroir.
