Description
The Montagny 1er Cru “La Grande Roche” 2022 has a bright, pale yellow colour. Both fermentation and ageing take place in stainless steel vats in order to preserve freshness. On the nose, aromas of yellow peach, fresh hazelnut and almond paste emanate from the glass. The palate is ample and very round, revealing aromas of almond paste and honey. A lot of freshness on the finish.
One of the biggest names in Burgundy, Maison Louis Latour has a history that dates back to 1731, when the first vineyards in Beaune were bought by the Latour family. In 1815, the first wines were shipped to Great Britain and they have been hugely popular here ever since. Montagny is a 100% white wine appellation. The high quality of the vines is a direct consequence of their limestone bedrock and admirably oriented slopes. The vineyard of “La Grande Roche” is quite high up on the hillsides, catching plenty of sunshine which aids the great concentration of flavours in the grapes.
Food Pairing: Perfect with asparagus, rabbit galantine, trout with almonds and sheep’s cheese.
