Description
Le Clos des Cazaux Les Clefs d’Or Vacqueyras is a lustrous, pale golden colour with green tints. Expressive nose, revealing floral and fruity aromas, and notes of fennel which are characteristic of the Clairette variety. Smooth and fruity, the balance and the finesse of this wine develop in the middle of the palate. The finish is marked by a persistence of the fruit and a freshness that enhances the minerality of the terroir.
The families Vache and Archimbaud have grown vines in the Vacqueyras area for 3 centuries. Gabriel Archimbaud participated in the process of the creation of the Côtes du Rhône appellation and he named his own domaine Clos des Cazaux. His granddaughter married Maurice Vache, her two sons Jean-Michel and Frédéric Vache run the domain today and is the 5th generation of pure vignerons. The brothers are meticulous, obsessively so, their hands on vine-growing and wine-making are resulting in impeccably pure, bright, soulful Southern Rhônes. Winemaking is designed to enhance the quality and purity of the fruit, élévage is uniquely in steel and concrete vat. These are some of the most consistently exciting, and underrated, wines in the Southern Rhône.
