The Viña Abad Godello 2022 is straw yellow in appearance with notes of apple, peach and tropical fruits on the nose. A wine of great structure, complexity and freshness from a region the Roman’s named Valdeorras, meaning ‘Valley of Gold’, when they came in search of metal and ended up planting vines.
Vinos Barco was founded in the Valdeorras region in 1958, with the first harvest taking place in 1962. The cooperative emerged in response to the difficulty that small producers faced at the time in selling their produce. They were the first bottling plant in the Valdeorras region and the first winery in the country to bottle wines from the Godello variety. The appellation now produces some of the highest quality wines from this native grape in all of ‘Green Spain’.
