Vinified in stainless steel tanks with no influence from oak, the Talmard Macon-Uchizy 2022 is fresh and floral, and spends time on the lees to enhance the texture and depth of flavour. Aromas of citrussy lemon peel, ripe peach, apples and pears on the nose, the palate is fruity and rounded with a lovely acidity. This wine will age for five or six years.
The Talmard family have been growing vines in the Mâconnais since 1645. Located in the small town of Uchizy, where the vines grow on the most eastern part of the Mont du Mâconnais range, Domaine Talmard mostly produce pure and refreshing expressions of chardonnay, aged only in stainless steel tanks, to allow the flavour profile of the grapes to shine. The vineyards are planted with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir on stony soils, rich in limestone and clay, on gentle slopes near Tournus – an area which spans 27 hectares. The estate is run by husband-and-wife team, Mallory and Benjamin Talmard, and they produce three whites, a crémant and one red.
