A step up from the Roble, the Tempranillo grapes come from 40 year old vines. Figuero 12 is aged for twelve months in older barrels and then aged for a further one year in bottle. Intense burgundy red in colour, with blue highlights. The nose is complex and powerful with seductive aromas of ripe red fruit, spiced notes of nutmeg and pepper, and a touch of liquorice. Secondary notes of balsamic and toffee further enhance this wine. The palate is exceptionally smooth, fresh and well-balanced, with sweet, silky tannins complementing the fresh acidity. Enjoy the elegant and long finish. A really quite excellent wine from a region that should have more exposure in the UK.
