Description
Domaine du Météore Léonides is often described as “one of the bargains of the appellation” – this is a wine made from roughly equal quantities of Syrah, Grenache and Cinsault. A traditional meaty Faugères with its gorgeous deep colour, heady aromas of flowering shrub, bay, balsam and serious quantities of dark smoked fruits on the palate.
The Domaine du Météore vines grow from within a crater high up in the Languedoc mountains, left by a meteor 10,000 years ago. Named after the two hundred metre-wide meteorite crater which lies at the heart of the domaine, the vineyard sits in the village of Cabrerolles, at over three hundred metres of altitude in the foothills of the Haut-Languedoc mountains. Domaine du Météore aim to create wines that truly give a sense of place, with minimal intervention that allows the terroir to speak for itself. Producing wines in small volumes using organic methods, each of the domaine’s cuvées tell a different story.
