Description
Aged in 35% new French oak for 20 months before being bottled, the Domaine de Chevalier 2014 is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. It has a deep and intense colour in the glass whilst the nose offers dark fruits, cinnamon, graphite and brine. The palate is full, smooth and fruity with fine but dense tannins. A very elegant wine in a classic style with great potential.
From Pessac Leognan on the Left Bank in Bordeaux – Domaine de Chevalier is becoming a more and more prominent player in the Bordeaux market. They have recently adopted biodynamic practices in the vineyard that means they are ticking even more boxes. They are one of the few producers to make both red and white wines from their 35-hectare estate. They have plantings of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillion, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Their first wine works very nicely as an investment grade wine – whilst still being at the price point where you will not feel guilty about drinking it. After all, that is what wine is made for!
