Description
Denis Durantou’s La Chenade delivers great drinking Bordeaux wines year on year – at a very reasonable price under £30 per bottle. Following the extremely sad news in May 2020, the 2019 will be the last vintage made by the brilliant, late Denis Durantou of Chateau L’Eglise Clinet. The fruit is sourced from a section of the Les Cruzelles vineyard with gravel soil and younger vines.
All critics gave this wine over 90 points – which again is impressive at the price point.
Jeb Dunnuck (94 points) – a great bouquet of spiced red and black fruits, sappy flowers, sandalwood, and foresty, slightly herbal notes. These carry to a medium to full-bodied, elegant, yet rich Lalande de Pomerol that has beautiful tannins, nicely integrated acidity, and a great finish. It’s beautifully done and should be snatched up by readers. It can be drunk today or cellared for 15 years.
