Description
With 5 months barrel aging, Alges 2017 displays its extreme climatic conditions with profound colour and powerful aromas of ripe fruit and elegant oak notes. The palate is concentrated and structured with mineral-rich stewed red fruits, hints of licorice, and spice finishing with a robust silky mouthfeel.
Alges could be described as the flagship wine of Clos Pons Winery that best showcases the character of the Les Garrigues subregion. With an arid Mediterranean climate, an altitude of 500 to 700 meters, and soils heavy and poor in organic matter, this extreme terroir constitutes an ideal, if not demanding, space for producing high-quality organic wine.
Food Pairing: A gastronomic wine, we would pair this with roast meat, rich stew, lamb, paella, creamy cheese, game, and pâté.
