Clos L’Eglise is from Pomerol in Bordeaux – and is one of the classic dry red wines from the Right Bank. A blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, it is a wine that everyone will get on with.
In the glass, Clos l’Eglise 2019 has a lovely deep purple colour with a garnet red rim and distils a bouquet which opens after a few shakes of the glass releasing various floral notes (roses, violets…) coating a core of cooked and jammy black fruits. After a few seconds of aeration, tertiary notes of spices and dried herbs emerge, bringing a touch of elegance and complexity to the nose. On the palate, the Clos l’Eglise 2019 is moderately full-bodied. Plum and blackberry aromas offer great freshness developing in the mid-palate, supported by a velvety tannic structure to end on a deliciously long and mineral finish.
