Description
Made from a blend of 65% Semillon and 35% Sauvignon Blanc, the Guiraud 2020 is vinified using indigenous yeasts and spends 18 months in new French oak barrels before bottling. The nose boasts a floral freshness with exotic notes of wonderful intensity. Delicately aromatic, pure and balanced – this is a really fantastic sweet wine.
One of the regions only certified organic estates, Château Guirand spans 128 hectares of the Sauternes appellation. It was acquired by the Guirand family back in 1766 and today, is run by female winemaker Sandrine Garbay (previously of Château Yquem), a modest woman known for her incredible expertise. The vineyards are planted with a large proportion of Sauvignon Blanc grapes, as well as Semillon, and grow on sand, gravel and clay soils.
Food matches: Great with cheesecakes and fruit tarts, but also with cheese – especially Roquefort.
