Description

Aged in 50% new French oak, the Duhart-Milon 2014 is a beautiful dark red colour with good depth and complexity. The oak is well-integrated with notes of fresh red fruit and blackcurrants. The palate is robust and dense with a weighty body, silky tannins and great elegance. The recommended drinking window for this wine is 2020 – 2030.

A neighbouring property of Lafite Rothschild, Chateau Duhart-Milon was acquired by Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite in 1962. Located in the north of the Pauillac appellation, the vineyards cover an area of 76-hectares, almost in one block, on the Milon hillside. The soils are a mixture of pebbles, sand, gravel, and clay, and are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (67%) and Merlot (33%) vines. A classified fourth growth, the grand vin of Duhart-Milon are age-worthy wines. They also produce a second wine, made from the grapes of younger vines and aged for shorter periods, but offering great value.

Food matches: Great with slow-cooked beef, roast leg of lamb, or hearty venison dishes.
