Description
Château Capbern 2019 is a big wine, powerful and impactful, but with great balance. With ripe dark fruits, tobacco leaf, spice, and cedar, this Cabernet Sauvignon dominant blend also has notes of cassis, plum and prune. Deep in colour with a long, spicy finish, this flamboyant wine from St Estèphe offers excellent value for money, with critics favouring this vintage to the 2018.
Château Capbern, owned by the Gasqueton family of well-renowned Calon Ségur, is located between the vineyards of Montrose and Phélan Ségur, in one of the finest parts of the St Estèphe appellation. A Cru Bourgeois offering excellent value, the best vintages of these wines can be cellared for 10-20 years if desired. The soils of the Northern Médoc are comprised mostly of gravel and clay, offering plenty of minerality in the wines of Chateau Capbern from their 41-hectare estate. These wines are produced by the same top winemaking team at Calon Ségur – not to be missed.
