This Saint Emilion property of 9 hectares is well situated on the plateau of Saint Emilion. Previously the wines were made by Nicolas Thienpont from Pavie Macquin and Beausejour Duffau. However, in July 2017 the property was purchased by the owners of Chanel and it is now under the control of the wine-making team of Chateau Canon. Consequently, there is a significant change in the style of the wine into something much more sophisticated and smoother than before. The blend is 70% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc.
Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, 94 Points: “Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 Berliquet gives up expressive notes of baked plums, blackberry preserves and mulberries with hints of licorice, crushed rocks, chargrilled meat and wild sage. Medium-bodied, the palate has a great core of elegantly played flavors framed by soft, plush tannins and bold freshness, finishing long and minerally. Aged for 18 months in French oak, 50% new. 2021 – 2039”
