Arzuaga – Ribera del Duero Reserva 2017 is mostly produced from grapes coming from the oldest vines on the La Planta estate, from the varieties Tempranillo (95%), Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. This Reserva wine is the result of traditional, sustainable vine-growing. The chalky clay soils with limestone bedrock less than a metre below the surface at an altitude of 900 m (3,000 ft) give Arzuaga’s wines their unique character. Ruby red in colour with purple hues. Explosive and rich in nuances, with a wide aromatic palette where black fruits stand out and small roasted and smoked notes are present. Enveloping and structured with great unctuousness marked by it’s sweet tannin. Silky sensations and a long aftertaste.
Bodegas Arzuaga is located in Valladolid, in the middle of the Ribera del Duero Denomination of Origin. The setting where the wines produced by the winery are born can be found in the La Planta estate, a property that the Arzuaga family owns in the Valladolid town of Quintanilla de Onésimo. This estate has a privileged situation for the cultivation of the vine, since its vines receive the sun and the necessary humidity for the perfect ripening of the grape. La Planta is a place where the flora and fauna of the area coexist. A flora made up of pines, holm oaks and junipers and a fauna made up of wild boars and deer. This coexistence is, without a doubt, the confirmation of the love that the Arzuaga family feels for the world of nature. The farm consists of 1,400 hectares, a luxury in the middle of the Denomination and Golden Mile of the Ribera del Duero.
