Description
Arzuaga Gran Reserva is made from grapes coming from old Tinto Fino vines which grow on chalky clay slopes with a yield of around 2,000 kilos, and Cabernet and Merlot from the La Planta estate. Garnet red in colour, clean and bright. This wine has a multitude of nuances and a deep aromatic complexity. Predominating notes of red fruit with hints of cinnamon, tobacco, spices and black liquorice. An initial freshness is followed by a bold end, showing us a silky and pleasant wine.
Located in Valladolid, in the heart of the Ribera del Duero DO, the Arzuaga Winery has 210 hectares of vineyard planted to Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. 80% of the vineyards are more than 20 years old and the unique climate here – sunshine and clear skies during the day with cool, damp evenings – allows the grapes to ripen slowly, producing healthy fruit with plenty of colour, sugars and aromatic acidity. At Arzuaga’s vineyards, the natural flora and fauna coexist with the vines – pines, holm oaks and savin juniper grow alongside the grapes, whilst wild boars and red deer are left to roam the land. The coexistence highlights the love the Arzuaga family feel for the natural world. The family’s efforts in the vineyard and winery have earned them a fine reputation for producing quality wines from Ribera del Duero.
