Pont de Gassac is the the second wine at the very famous Mas de Daumas Gassac Vineyard in Languedoc. The is the ‘brother’ of the popular Pont de Gassac Blanc that we have in the Waud Wine Club stable.
Pont de Gassac is a dark, almost inky ruby colour that shows a startling nose of ripe plum, rose petal and creamy toffee. You may even get a note of aged cheese if you look hard enough. For a second wine, the palate is surprisingly complex. You will notice: Tart red fruit, black-plum skin, strong tannin and an earthy ripe fruit finish. This wine is fantastic and the rounded fruit is the hallmark of the Pont de Gassac rouge.
