Pieropan and Tua Rita Tasting
We enjoyed a very interesting tasting last night with two super Italian wines.
The first wine was from Soave in Veneto – from the fabulous producer Pieropan. We opened up with the Pieropan Soave Classico 2019 – 85% Garganega, 15% Trebbiano di Soave. This is the freshest and youngest wine in their range – and was well received by our tasting panel.
Brilliant yellow in colour with greenish hints, with a nose of apple, marzipan and blossom. A zingy palate that has a beautiful long finish.
Next up, we head to Tuscany to taste the Tua Rita Perlato del Bosco 2015. We visited this vineyard on our Tuscan Tour du Vin in 2017. 100% Sangiovese – warm and elegant on the palate, a nose of herbs, such as lavender, as well as cherry, raspberry and other hedgerow fruit. Notes of liquorice, leather and smoke.
The Perlato snuck the competition with an average score of 8.29, against the Pieropan that had an average score of 7.85.
A very enjoyable tasting – alongside some tasty canapes. Congratulations to Jeremy and Jackie for their traditional Italian offering of Burrata and italian meats.
