Declassified Wine Tasting at the Royal Ashdown, East Sussex
For the first time, we will be hosting a tasting of the ever popular Declassified Bordeaux wines that have been amongst our bestsellers in the past few years.
These wines come from some of the most famous estates and appellations on the Right and Left Banks of Bordeaux, and this event is a fantastic opportunity to taste these wines and truly ‘try before you buy’. We plan to pour wines from Pauillac, Margaux, Saint-Estèphe, Saint-Émilion and Saint Julien.
To give you an idea of the provenance of these wines, we will be pouring one from a First Growth Estate in Pauillac – where the release price of the original wine is in the region of £600 per bottle. The Declassified version we will be showing will be available to you to buy at £29.50 per bottle.
A short explanation on Declassified Wines:
In short, declassification comes about when the winemaker has completed the final blend for that vintage and has decided not to add any more barrels into the mix. These parcels of wine are then sold on to negociants who bottle and sell the wines with unbranded labels. At First Growth level in particular, the precision needed to create the finest wines in the world is so extraordinary that many Chateaux decide to declassify small parcels instead of producing higher volumes under their esteemed labels.
The evening is open to all Waud Wines customers, as well as Royal Ashdown Golf Club members and guests. PLEASE REGISTER USING THE FORM BELOW. We hope to see many of you there to taste these truly fantastic and unique wines!
